The Tiny Town In Florida With A Terribly Creepy Past

Cassadaga, Florida, known as the Psychic Capital of the World, is famous for its spiritualist community and eerie history.

While there is much to be said about hauntings in and around Florida, nothing quite compares to this little story I'm about to share. Cassadaga, Florida has gained huge popularity within the spiritualist community, but, as you'll soon learn, there's much more to this known witch town in the Sunshine State. For most people, the tiny town of Cassadaga, Florida is known as the Psychic Capital of the World.

This secluded community, with a reputation for being a witch town in Florida, is known for psychics and mediums communicating with ghosts and other spirits.

The Cassadaga Spiritualist camp began around the late 1800s, after being founded by Georgia P. Colby, a trance medium from New York who once traveled the country performing seances and readings.

After Colby was contacted by the spirit of a Native American named Seneca, who was claiming to be Colby’s spirit guide, he traveled to Cassadaga, Florida to found the spiritualist camp.

As the camp thrived for many years, attracting visitors and spiritualists from all over the globe, many people were not happy with the refuge for mystics in this Florida witch town.

Many people who visited the so-called witch town in Florida thought the camp was the work of the devil and was populated by witches and pagans.

Per Cassadaga Florida's history, rumors soon began circulating that this secluded Florida witch town, located in the backwater of the state was actually where the Devil lived.

Stories of bodies being dumped in the nearby lake began to pop up, including those who died from human sacrifice and satanic rituals.

There is even a graveside bench located in the town’s cemetery that is known as The Devil’s Chair and is said that the Devil will often appear to anyone bold enough to sit on it when they visit this witch town in Florida.

Today, Cassadaga, Florida still exists offering a variety of spiritual tours, seances, psychics, and mediums for anyone interested in visiting.

While many Floridians still are met with apprehension when they hear the town’s name, it is up to the visitor to decide whether or not the creepy accounts of Cassadaga Florida's history are a true misconception.

Although visiting the town today might give many people the creeps, it’s the history of this small town in Florida that could easily leave you with goosebumps and the creeps.
