The small town of Wausau outside of Tallahassee hosts a possum-themed festival every year and has been doing so for over 50 years. Created in 1970 by Dalton Carter, the Wausau Possum Festival takes place the first weekend in August. This year that means you need to mark your calendars for Friday & Saturday, August 4-5, 2023, and get ready to participate in all the possum fun.

The annual Wausau Possum Festival is a beloved tradition that graces the quaint village of Northwest Florida, home to a close-knit community of 400 people.

This eagerly awaited event, typically held on the first weekend of August, has been charming locals and drawing in visitors for over half a century.
