What's even greater, though, is how many experiences you can have in Delaware without breaking the bank - actually, without even spending one dime. 1. Explore the Bethany Beach Nature Center

There is no shortage of nature centers in Delaware - nearly every state park has one worth visiting. Bethany Beach's however, makes this list because when it comes to free things to do in Delaware, they really go over the top with activities for children and families. Right now, they're open Wed – Fri: 10 to 3, and the first two Saturdays of the month from 10 to 12.

2. Appreciate Modern Art

The Delaware Contemporary in Wilmington is one of the region's finest art museums, with permanent and rotating exhibitions year-round. Best of all, admission is totally free, so expand your mind without worrying about emptying your wallet. The Delaware Contemporary is closed on Mondays, and open 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM most other days. Dogfish Head Beer is one of Delaware's most famous exports, and the brewery tour itself was named one of the top 10 tours in America by USA Today. 7. Get in the Holiday Spirit in New Castle

New Castle is always buzzing with free events, street fairs, and festivals during the winter months around the holidays, but the one you must NOT miss is the "Spirit of Christmas" - one of the best free things to do in Delaware. 9. Learn about the Delaware State Police at their Museum in Dover
