Walk Across Falls Bridge For A Gorgeous View Of Connecticut’s Fall Colors
Falls Bridge at Lovers Leap State Park in Connecticut offers stunning fall foliage views and family-friendly trails.
There's no doubt that fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The leaves erupt into a beautiful canopy of color ranging from vibrant yellow to deep red. There are plenty of places around Connecticut to take in the colorful display but one, in particular, stands out. Take a stroll across Falls Bridge and on the trails beyond for mesmerizing views of the autumn landscape.
The historic Falls Bridge serves as the gateway to Lovers Leap State Park in New Milford. The historic crossing of the Housatonic River is one of five remaining Berlin Iron Bridges in Connecticut.
The bridge was built in 1895 and a walk across this long-standing river crossing will give you spellbinding views of the kaleidoscope of fall colors.
Stand in the middle of the bridge and you can see the autumn leaves on the trees along the river banks as they burst into their full display.
But don't stop with just a short stroll across the bridge. Lovers Leap State Park has over four miles of picturesque trails to explore.
The trails are all beginner level and kid-friendly so you can bring the whole family for a leaf-peeping outing.
Walk to the overlook of Lake Lillinonah to reach a breathtaking vista. The colors will stretch out before you like a magic carpet.
Pack a picnic and grab your camera. For a picture-perfect fall outing, head to Falls Bridge at Lovers Leap State Park.
