Have you ever taken a gondola ride in Colorado over one of our stunning mountains? Seeing an aerial view of these incredible peaks is truly a sight to behold and is even better when comfortably seated in an enclosed gondola. Where does one go to experience this? Colorado has a handful of options, the newest of which is at the iconic Steamboat Resort:
Opening Christmas Eve 2022 is the first stretch of the brand-new, state-of-the-art Wild Blue Gondola.
Slated to be the longest gondola in North America and the fastest in the U.S., the Wild Blue is an engineering marvel, beginning with its enclosed design that can comfortably seat 10.
While the sleek design is impressive, the speed at which the Wild Blue travels has us most impressed, as the gondola can travel 4,267 linear feet and 589 feet high in just 3.6 minutes.
The first stops on the gondola (which will open in late December) are the Greenhorn Ranch SnowSports School Learning Center, Skeeter's Ice Rink, and the Range Food & Drink Hall.
The second stop on the Wild Blue - which is slated to open during the 2023/2024 season - is the Sunshine Peak, a popular ride for intermediate to expert skiers.
Upon completion, the Wild Blue Gondola will transport skiers 3.16 miles in less than 13 minutes!
