The Legend Of The Third Bridge In Colorado Will Make Your Hair Stand On End
Third Bridge in Colorado is known for its terrifying legends and ghost sightings, making it one of the most haunted places in the state.
Bridges and other outdoor structures are typically seen as both beautiful and picturesque, but some have proven to be downright morbid and horrifying. While most bridges in The Centennial State are innocent, there is one that is home to several terrifying legends that will make your hair stand on end. Come along as we explore The Third Bridge in Colorado and see what all the scary fuss is about!
Located near the small Eastern Plains town of Bennett, Third Bridge is a small overpass that runs over the dried-up Kiowa Creek.
It can be found along rural County Line Road, which is known far and wide as not only a haunted street in Colorado, but perhaps the most haunted street in the state!
Covered in graffiti and strange messages, the Third Bridge may seem like your ordinary, run-of-the-mill platform...
...however, it is anything but that, thanks to the creepy legends surrounding it.
For years, local folklore has centered around the belief that the Third Bridge (or "Ghost Bridge") is haunted by the spirits of Native Americans...
...who lost their lives during a massacre that occurred around the same time at Sand Creek (pictured). And that they can still be seen and heard around the area.
If and when you visit the bridge at night, listen for the sound of distant drums and keep your eyes peeled for the sight of a ghost rider who still rides his horse around the area.
Horseback riding in Colorado is fun, but you may not want to do it with a ghost riding near you!
As if all of this wasn't creepy enough, the Third Bridge is also said to be plagued by the ghosts of another tragedy, via two teenagers who lost their lives after their cars crashed near the bridge.
The teenagers who were killed were traveling in two full-capacity cars, and a third passenger is said to be completely paralyzed from the accident.
To this day, The Third Bridge remains as one of the most haunted places in Colorado.
If you want to go check it out, the closest "big city" is Aurora, which is approximately 14 miles away.
