The Beautiful Colorado Library That Looks Like Something From A Book Lover’s Dream
The Crested Butte Old Rock Library in Colorado is one of the most beautiful libraries in the country, housed in a historic 1883 schoolhouse.
If you are a lover of great literature, you know that there is no better sight than a library, which is chock-full of the best sights (books), smells (books), and tastes (boo - err, I mean coffee). While you may think that a library is a library, not all are created equal, as demonstrated by this Colorado library which is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country:
Welcome to the Created Butte Old Rock Library!
Located in Crested Butte, the Crested Butte Old Rock Library is housed in a two-room, two-story c. 1883 schoolhouse that is also one of the oldest buildings in the area.
Built of sandstone, the Old Rock Library building has worn many hats through the years, beginning as a schoolhouse before serving as a storage facility, a gymnasium, and, starting in 1993, as a library.
Do you see why the Old Rock Library is considered one of the most beautiful in the COUNTRY?
While the outside is stunning enough, the inside of the Old Rock Library makes it even lovelier, thanks to the modern aesthetic complete with ample windows and tons of natural light.
What's a library without great literature? This Crested Butte gem has that (and lots of it), too!
In addition to its books and media, the Crested Butte Old Rock Library also hosts special events that range from Harry Potter birthday parties to book clubs to storytimes, crafternoons, and even an annual fall festival.
