Have you had a chance to ride a train through Colorado's unforgettable landscape? If you haven't, you are missing out on an incredible experience that will show you the Centennial State in a whole new way! While you really can't go wrong with any of our trains, we highly recommend taking your family on this exciting open-air train ride in Colorado!
Welcome aboard the iconic Georgetown Loop Railroad!
The Georgetown Loop Railroad is located about an hour’s drive west of downtown Denver.
Established in 1879, this railroad is as unique as it is downright stunning, as the first-of-its-kind train gains a whopping 600 feet in elevation.
It also navigates a narrow canyon via a three-foot narrow gauge railroad line and crosses a record four bridges.
No matter where you sit, it will be the perfect seat for your adventure.
As a very budget-friendly activity, there is a price point for everyone aboard. Some of the car options include the Waldorf, Tahoe, and Parlor cars, and our personal favorite: Coach Class.
During the warmer summer and fall months, the Coach Class roofs are removed from the cars and turned into open-air vessels.
It offers a fantastic opportunity to watch the passing scenic views and dramatic landscapes in all their glory!
Just look at those views!
From this vantage point, it's not hard to see why we think this is one of the best train rides in Colorado!
In addition to its standard rides, the Georgetown Loop also hosts several special events throughout the year.
They range from Santa's North Pole Adventure to Old West Days, Pumpkinfest, Sasquatch Adventure, a Fall Colors ride, and more.
You might even want to enjoy more than one adventure here throughout the year.
So grab your family and friends and get ready for an adventure you won't soon forget.
