Held June 8 and 9, 2024, the Cache Creek Lavender Festival is an annual favorite.
This free festival takes place at the Cache Creek Lavender Farm in the town of Rumsey, located about an hour northeast of Sacramento off California State Highway 16.
To give your enjoyment of the festival a little context and history, various cultures around the world have used lavender for centuries.
It has been called by different names in ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece, Persia, Rome, and others.
However, the most common nomenclature root is believed to have come from the Latin root "lavare" (to wash).
It was also widely used during the Victorian and Renaissance eras.
Spectacularly hued and oh-so fragrant, lavender contains numerous healing properties.
It is often used as a treatment and remedy for issues including eczema, acne, hair loss, insomnia, burns and wounds, headaches, and mood swings.
One of the best NorCal festivals is family-friendly and will include live music and educational field talks.
Attendees will also enjoy wine from local vintners, great eats, and a crowd favorite - lavender ice cream!

The festival was the natural progression for the proprietors at the farm, who have always focused not just on growing and selling lavender but on educating the general public about the fragrant plant’s deep cultural roots and tradition.

Some of these include bath salts, massage oils, soaps, roll-on perfumes, and hand sanitizer.
Traversing the fields to pick your own lavender plants is another highlight of the festival.
