This free festival takes place at the Cache Creek Lavender Farm in the town of Rumsey, located about an hour northeast of Sacramento off California State Highway 16.

To give your enjoyment of the festival a little context and history, various cultures around the world have used lavender for centuries.

It has been called by different names in ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece, Persia, Rome, and others.

However, the most common nomenclature root is believed to have come from the Latin root "lavare" (to wash).

It was also widely used during the Victorian and Renaissance eras.

Spectacularly hued and oh-so fragrant, lavender contains numerous healing properties.

It is often used as a treatment and remedy for issues including eczema, acne, hair loss, insomnia, burns and wounds, headaches, and mood swings.
