Hike Around This Northern California Lake Then Go Wine Tasting At The Nearby Winery

Enjoy a hike around Lake Tabeaud followed by wine tasting at Tabeaux Cellars in Amador County, Northern California.

Take a short hike around this Northern California lake and then go wine-tasting at a nearby winery. First, you’ll take the 2.5-mile trail around Lake Tabeaud, and afterwards head over to the similarly-named Tabeaux Cellars. This little adventure epitomizes NorCal fun!

Lake Tabeaud is a hidden little lake in Amador County.

There are picnic areas around the lake, as well as small beach areas. Visitors can hike the trails, kayak the lake, or picnic on its shores.

The Lake Tabeaud trail is a 2.5-mile loop that goes around the lake.

Located about 15 minutes from the town of Jackson, the trail can be accessed via Clinton Road. The lake can also be accessed from Route 88. There is a decent-sized parking lot where you can leave your vehicle for the day.

There are beautiful views of the green hills covered in oak trees, as well as the beautiful pristine lake, from many points on this hike.

Although this lake is located in the Sierra Foothills at an elevation that receives snow in the winter, hikers can visit this lake any time of year.

The hike takes about an hour– longer if you stop to bird watch or picnic.

Afterwards, visit Tabeaux Cellars. The winery’s entrance is about a quarter-mile walk from the lake.

Tabeaux Cellars is reservation only, so you’ll want to call ahead of your visit.

The winery makes about 500 cases of wine annually, and operates an earth-friendly and sustainable business. The majority of the wines are made with certified organic locally-grown grapes.

After wine tasting and learning about the vineyard, you can buy as many bottles of this local wine as you like.
