To a time when our ancestors did everything with old-fashioned tools and equipment. Well, if this sounds interesting to you, then take a trip to Pioneer Village in Searcy. It’s a unique village in Arkansas that’s frozen in time, and it is one of the best living histories of a forgotten era. Let’s visit this historic settlement and be astounded by what we find.

Step into a time capsule at the Pioneer Village in Searcy Arkansas. This museum is a living replica of early pioneer life, dating back to the late 1800s.

Located at 1200 Higginson Street, the village is managed and operated by the White County Historical Society.

However, the village was created in the 1960s by local business owner Oran Vaughn, who wanted to preserve the incredible memories of his grandparents’ home as well as their way of life.

Over the years, many buildings have been donated to the village.

They include a train depot, a schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, a jail, a post office and general store, a log cabin, a barn, and so much more.

Aside from the structures, you’ll also see various equipment as well as machinery scattered around the yard.

Throughout the year, the village opens daily for self-guided tours.

Typically, for the self-guided tours, the buildings are locked, but the village hosts yearly events, where you can step inside and fully immerse into this forgotten era.

You’ll enjoy stepping inside the kitchen and witnessing volunteers prepare food and goodies from scratch.

Additionally, you’ll love seeing the artisans handcraft different items.

The Pioneer Village is great for the entire family, but the kids will especially love seeing all the cool machinery and equipment on the property.

…as well as the salt kettle, the windmill, other farming machines, and the old-school wagon.

If you attend one of the yearly events, you’ll be able to purchase various handmade goods and supplies from the general store.

One thing’s for sure, this museum is preserving the memories of a forgotten era, and it’s a great place for the entire family to explore. Visit the Pioneer Village website or call (501) 580-6633 to learn about upcoming events.
