Arkansas Broke Ground On Its New State-Of-The-Art Stella Boyle Smith Music Center

Calling all music lovers of Arkansas! Did you hear about the new Stella Boyle Smith Music Center coming to Little Rock in September 2024? During the summer of 2023, the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra (ASO) broke ground for the new entertainment center. At 20,000 square foot, the multi-million-dollar state-of-the-art facility will serve as the permanent headquarters for the ASO. If you ask me, this will be an incredible venue for music and art lovers. And even if you’re not, it’s worth checking out! One thing I know for sure is that music brings folks together. So, it's important that we have venues like the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra that's been around since 1966.

Currently, the ASO is located on the campus of the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock, but the new building will be moving to the Heifer International campus on the banks of the Arkansas River.

With community leaders dressed in hard hats holding shovels, the groundbreaking ceremony held on August 10, was quite the event.

Mayor Frank Scott Jr. as well as other ASO representatives and staff were present for the big day.

Of course, musical selections were provided by local bands and orchestra members. After all, it makes sense to have live music at the groundbreaking ceremony for a music center, right?

As the permanent home for the ASO, the new 20,000-square-foot, entertainment center will be a place for music lovers of Arkansas.

Featuring classrooms, concert halls, a recording studio, administrative offices, and more, the center will promote music and the arts for all generations. Kids especially will benefit from the various music programs.

Adults can enjoy a date night at the concert hall, or perhaps enroll in a music class to learn a new talent or to perfect an old skill.

Either way, the new Stella Boyle Smith Music Center will have something for everyone and will be a great addition to the cultural scene in Little Rock.
