This One-Of-A-Kind Arkansas Castle Is A Strange Sight Indeed
Castle Rogue's Manor in Eureka Springs is a unique Arkansas castle known for its grand design and use as a wedding venue and tourist attraction.
In a land far far away, by which we mean Eureka Springs, resides quite the quirky castle. This beloved anachronism may be unique even by Eureka Springs' standards but Castle Rogue's Manor is a magnificent sight to behold. Let's learn about the history of this castle and take a look inside its grand halls.
Although it takes inspiration from around the world, Rogue's Manor is a true Arkansas castle.
The castle is the dream-come-true from creator Smith Treuer. He bought the land in 1993 and construction took 14 whole years! The uniqueness of the design was influenced by the travels of Treuer during his career. The castle has vaulted ceilings, oversized furniture fit for royalty, and intricate designs throughout every room. To see an interview with Treuer about his building process, watch this video.
The interior is just as impressive as the outside.
The attention to detail is near flawless throughout the entire castle but what really attracts the eye is the massive fireplace. The 7,000-lb. stone mantle even has an intricate dragon that vents out the hot air.
The castle is typically used for private events. Even the simplest of dinners will instantly turn into grand feasts in this majestic hall.
Arkansas doesn't not have a shortage of wedding venues but you'll be hard-pressed to find one with a more jaw-dropping ambiance. Ceremonies typically take place on the hillside facing Beaver Lake. Guests can tuck into a feast in the 5,000-sq. ft. dining hall.
Even if you're not saying "I do," you can still fall in love with the castle through other means.
The castle is certainly perfect for a wedding or other special event but you can also visit without needing to invite guests. Tours are available by appointment and are $20 for adults or $10 for ages 15 and under. To set an appointment you just need to call ahead at 479-981-6816.
This unexpected treasure in the Ozarks is well worth the trip!
