Did you know our state is also home to the world's largest miniature airplane collection? It's located at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and it's a sight to behold.

Specializing in aviation, aerospace, security, and intelligence, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott is a beautiful campus with impressive goals and a commendable mission statement.

You can see firsthand what the college is all about when you visit the Hazy Library & Learning Center, which offers several fascinating displays that are open to the public.

The most famous of these displays is the Kalusa Miniature Aircraft Collection, which holds the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of handmade miniature airplanes on earth.

You'll see over 5,800 models representing pre-flight, private, commercial, military, and rocket aircraft.

One Mr. John W. Kalusa is the man behind this remarkable feat.

He spent most of his life building before passing away in 2003 - the very same year the display was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Although you cannot touch the airplanes - they're housed safely behind a glass window - simply marveling at their intricacies is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The accuracy and attention to detail are astounding; these two attributes are difficult to achieve when working on such a small scale.
