Unexpected Treasures Can Be Found at HALO, a Thrifter’s Dream in Arizona

The options for thrifting in Arizona are abundant. Any time I check social media, I discover a new-to-me thrift store that makes me yearn to search for one-of-a-kind treasures. I do love a good treasure hunt and the fact that thrifting is an eco-friendly way to shop all while helping a good cause (in most cases, at least). One such thrift store in Arizona is located not too far away from me in North Phoenix. This particular store is filled with unusual used and vintage finds and proceeds go to a local animal rescue.

Welcome to the HALO Animal Rescue Thrift Boutique! Located in a plaza alongside other vintage and thrift stores at 11649 N. Cave Creek Road, HALO is one of a kind.

Those who know me know that I absolutely love animals. Growing up in a household filled with rescued pets, sometimes up to 15 at a time, helping animals is a cause that's near and dear to my heart. In my younger years, I also worked for an environmental organization, so sustainability has also been a big part of my life. So, when I read about HALO Thrift Boutique located so close to where I live, well, I had to check it out!

Walking up to the door of HALO's thrift boutique, I first looked at the items placed on the sidewalk. Not only was there a table with decorative plates and a rack of clothing, but also a basket of dog toys and a crate of dog beds. I then walked inside. The first room displayed animal art on the far end of one wall, along with a bookshelf filled with wooden bowls, decorative wooden masks, and woven baskets. There were so many interesting and unexpected items already so I was excited to continue my treasure hunt.

The next room was a bit larger, with a rack of doggie jackets and sweaters for those of us who love dressing up our pets. Additionally, I saw a rack of leashes and bins of other pet-related products. Coming here is a great way to get pet supplies at affordable prices.

Now, when I visit a thrift store, I am immediately drawn to vintage glassware. It's something I've been obsessed with my entire life. And HALO had some beautiful glassware that was well-organized on the shelves. I was impressed and plan on returning soon to pick some up.

Continuing on through the store, which was much larger than I anticipated, I entered a room filled with clothing. Just racks upon racks of pants, shirts, and sweaters caught my attention, and I spent some time looking. Everything was clean and in great shape.

After checking out the clothes, I noticed a door with a sign stating, "Follow the paw prints to find more treasures," and that's exactly what I did! The paw prints led me to a covered outdoor space and another storefront where HALO Thrift Boutique has furniture on display. While I love do vintage glassware, I happen to love vintage furniture more, and the selection here did not disappoint. On display were several beautiful lamps, wall art, and other home decor alongside large pieces of furniture.
