Every True Arizonan Has Had These 12 Bizarre Experiences At Least Once
Highlights unique and quirky experiences that are common in Arizona.
There are some things Arizonans have grown used to seeing. For example, a coyote trotting down the street? It probably just lives near the canal. It isn't until you stop to think about it that some experiences might be a bit strange. Here are 12 additional examples.
1. In 2016, you still lose cell phone signal in huge chunks of the state.
It’s okay, just accept it and enjoy nature.
2. Driving through town in Phoenix or Yuma on a summer afternoon means the streets are practically empty.
3. You’re met with this message on your phone screen on a summer day.
4. You've attempted to cook food in the heat, like fry an egg on the asphalt or bake cookies in your car.
Might as well make use of that oven-like heat.
5. In one day, you can drive through deserts, mountains, grasslands, forests, and badlands.
6. You’re genuinely surprised whenever a rainstorm lasts more than 15 minutes.
7. You’ve had to tell people that, yes, it does snow in Arizona.
It snows enough that you need to put chains on your tires when you travel and you’ve experienced that scary moment of hitting black ice.
8. You have met a wall of dust while driving.
9. If you were born and raised in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, and other hot parts of the state, you probably bundle up when the temperatures dip down into the 60s.
Any temperature lower than that is just asking for thermals.
10. At the same time, there are days where you can bask under the warm sun...in January.
11. You’ve attempted to build a tumbleweed snowman.
It takes more craft than you think.
12. You’ve panicked upon seeing one of these.
So, Arizona can be a little weird but I like it that way because that's what makes it home. Be sure to check out our article 15 Undeniable Reasons Why Arizona Will Always Be Home for even more experiences that make this state the best!
