The Ziprider at Icy Strait Point is the largest Ziprider in the world, and it's right here in Alaska. Strap in for over 5000 feet of flying through the trees above Hoonah. Chichagof Island is located 50 miles west of Juneau. On the island lies Icy Strait Point, a cruise line port of call located 1.5 miles away from the village of Hoonah.
Travel from Juneau takes about 3 hours and 15 minutes by boat, or a very quick 20 minute flight. The area is serviced by Alaska Airlines and the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system, as well as the cruise ships companies.
Riders are driven in a van through the town of Hoonah, a charming Alaskan village. The Hoonah Tlingit people have lived on the island for thousands of years.
The forests are rainy and brilliant green in Hoonah. Cedar trees are common and these towering giants form a beautiful canopy that protects the rainforest below.
After a scenic drive to the top of 1550’ Hoonah Mountain, riders travel a total of 5,330’ on the ziplines, making this the current Largest Ziprider in the World!
Riders accelerate quickly and reach speeds of 65 miles per hour. They fly through the air with a 1,300 foot vertical drop!
Riders fly over the thick forest below. Wildlife is often visible on the forest floor below from deer to bald eagles to bears.
The ride can send up to 6 Zipriders at the same time. Hundreds of people attend this attraction a day during the summer season.
It is almost always rainy and cool in Hoonah, between 40-60 degree Fahrenheit. Riders are encouraged to dress in layers and required to wear close toed shoes.
