This Historic Alaska Railroad Car Is Now A Restaurant And You’ll Want To Plan Your Visit

Alaska's railroad history is something pretty spectacular! The railroad winds its way all around this large, beautiful state. Too frequently retired railroad cars can gather dust, instead of being turned into something useful. But this incredible diner took these old Alaska Railroad Cars and fashioned them into the best train car restaurant in Seward!

This train car restaurant has been in existence since 2006.

It has recently come under new ownership, where they spruced up the menu and redid the entire interior. These numerous train cars house a number of businesses down by the Seward harbor.

The menu is varied, and the portions are huge! But the prices are affordable.

Expect to order everything from snow crab benedicts to an incredible array of Mexican options. Try the huevos rancheros, or one of their amazing classic diner dishes, like buttermilk pancakes or a breakfast sandwich.

Their lunch menu is fabulous as well!

As you're in Seward, expect fresh Alaskan seafood options, and many with a Mexican twist! Guests rave about the halibut tacos. Or you could mix it up with a Rueben, or Cuban sandwich! Whatever you choose, you won't be disappointed.

On a dry day the best place to eat is out on the deck!

There are plenty of tables covered by tents. You are right by the water, and you can even see the mountains from the picnic tables!

The atmosphere inside the trains cars is modern and relaxing. The bright colors and leather seating are rustic and inviting.

You are inside a passenger rail car, so space can be limited, and there may be a wait! Make sure you bring clothing that's appropriate for waiting outside.

This awesome restaurant is open year round! Winter definitely tends to be less busy then summer. Summer can be filled with tourists coming off the cruise ships, so be prepared for a longer wait- although it's worth it!
