Spring is upon us at long last, and it's time to climb off the couch and into the fresh, Alaskan air. Head to the little town of Petersburg for one of the best festivals in the state.

The Little Norway Festival celebrates Norwegian independence and the return of spring to Alaska. Norway's constitution was signed on May 17, 1814, so the festival always falls on or around that date.

Many Alaskans have Nordic roots, and you'll love the spirit of history and heritage you'll find here. From the smallest festival goers festooned in folk costumes...

...to the burliest, boldest, most beautiful Vikings, everyone loves to dress up for this celebration.
