Ogle At 4,000 Majestic Eagles At Haines’ Annual Bald Eagle Festival This Fall

Haines, Alaska is a fun little town located on the Alaska Panhandle.

Haines is a small town with a population of only 1,700 people. The amount of bald eagles that visit during November are more than double the population in Haines.

Between 2,000 to 4,000 bald eagles visit the Chilkat Valley at the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve each year.

This makes it the perfect spot for bird lovers to come watch this bird of prey in action. The entire community of Haines celebrates this cool occurrence.

The Chilkat Valley experiences a late run of Coho and chum salmon that all the eagles fly in to feast on.

It is the perfect opportunity to pair celebration and education with the ability to witness first hand these incredible birds. You may even see some bears filling up on the salmon while scoping out the bald eagles.

This year's festival takes place from November 6th through November 9th.

They have fun activities like a local art bazaar, the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, and the highly anticipated gala fundraiser dinner. They even do a Flight for Freedom eagle release.

Haines Shuttle offers shuttle tours to the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve if you don't want to rent a car during your stay.

There's also a Photography Workshop offered if you want to learn how to photograph these incredible bald eagles. Their workshop includes five days of instruction and all the festival events with Bill McRoberts, a professional photographer in Haines.

This is actually the 25th anniversary of this amazing festival.

You can register for the Festival for $175 per person. That would include a ticket for the gala banquet fundraiser, a ticket to the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, and also admission to the American Bald Eagle Foundation for the whole festival. You can also choose to purchase each item separately.
