Alabama is no stranger when it comes to paranormal activity. There are several places located throughout the state that have definitely seen their fair share of ghosts. One of these places, which is as historic as it is haunted, is Sturdivant Hall. To learn about Sturdivant Hall and the paranormal activity it's known for, take a look below.
Sturdivant Hall, which is also known as the Watts-Parkman-Gilman House, is a historic mansion that's located in Selma, Alabama.
Built between the years of 1852 and 1856, this Greek Revival-style home is operated as a historic house museum. It's currently open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There's no denying that Sturdivant Hall is one of Alabama's most beautiful historic homes. With that being said, there's also a lot of paranormal activity that's taken place within its walls, and continues to do so.
For example, John Parkman, a former resident, was arrested inside his home. Until his name was cleared, he vowed to never leave. His name was never cleared, and today many visitors of the museum have felt his presence in the parlor and upstairs bedroom.
During tours, many people have also reported the sounds of a man's footsteps walking across the home's second floor. The sounds eventually stop at the top of the stairs.
And if that's not eerie enough, the apparitions of two little girls have been seen peering out of a second-floor window. It's believed these girls are John Parkman's daughters. However, they could also be the spirits of other children that once resided in the home.
If you consider yourself a history buff, you'll certainly want to check out Sturdivant Hall the next time you're passing through Selma. Who knows? You might even have your very own paranormal experience during your visit to this wonderful museum.
