Peak fall foliage hits Delaware in late October and lasts until early November. These few weeks are the perfect time for a family outing to one of Delaware’s splendid state parks and scenic roads. Be sure to plan ahead — these incredible colors are too stunning to miss.
Where are the best places in Delaware to see fall foliage?
Trap Pond State Park, located in Laurel, is a perfect place to visit during fall. People love coming here to kayak along the water and relax under the trees. It’s also a wonderful camping destination! Killens Pond State Park, located in Felton, is another popular autumn spot. This natural oasis is so much more than just a pretty place to explore. This destination is home to a magnificent nature center and a 66-acre millpond. Come by and take a hayride during the fall season! This place has everything you could ever want in an autumn day trip.
What are the best Delaware hikes to take in the fall?
For a memorable stroll, embark on the boardwalk trail inside Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. This hike makes a 12-mile loop, but you can walk as little or as much as you wish. Another beloved autumn hike is The Swamp Forest Trail in Lums Pond State Park. This hike is 7.5 miles of pure autumn beauty. Bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable hiking shoes. You’ll want to see every last bit of this breathtaking trail.
