In the 1970s, the small railroad town of Hockessin welcomed a small lunch spot right on the tracks. The Back Burner, as it was called, offered cooking classes that were wildly popular with the locals. Eventually, the restauranteurs relented and began serving dinner, too. Though it has since moved from its trackside spot, the Back Burner has been one of the best small-town Delaware restaurants since it began serving up those gourmet dinners in 1982.
