The Legend Of Delaware’s Screaming Bridge Will Make Your Hair Stand On End
Delaware is full of legends and folklore, and many of it is downright creepy. One local legend brings thrillseekers to a remote bridge in the middle of the woods, where you may encounter the ghost of a young, mourning mother named Maggie Bloxom.
If you grew up around Seaford, chances are you've heard the legend of Maggie's Bridge.
One night, almost two hundred years ago, a pregnant woman named Maggie Bloxom was traveling back to her home. Her horse spooked and her carriage was flipped into a shallow creek. Since, she has haunted the bridge.
Though many are quick to write off the story as nothing but folklore, young Maggie Bloxom is buried in a private cemetery not far from the bridge.
Those looking to reach out to Maggie park near the bridge and walk towards the creek, where they'll yell "Maggie, I have your baby!" Often, wails and screams are heard coming from the nearby woods.
This eerie story is a favorite bit of Delaware folklore. Have you ever visited Maggie's Bridge? Did you hear her shouts and screams from across the creek?
