Originally settled in 1734, Union was the last European settlement east of the Connecticut River, yet it was the first town founded in Windham County.

This quiet town includes the village of Mashapaug, which sits on the Massachusetts border. A local post office has never been officially established in the town.

Even though you won't find a post office within town limits, you will find a free public library. The library is generally open Monday (1 - 4 p.m.), Wednesday (5 - 8 p.m.), and Saturday (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.).
