Stratton Brook State Park offers a variety of recreational activities for visitors, including hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and picnicking. There's also a nature center that's open seasonally.
This is one of 13 parks in Connecticut that have been designated as trout parks. These parks are frequently restocked with trout - about every 10-14 days in the spring and fall. They also have open shoreline and accessibility features so that younger fishermen, and those with mobility issues, can participate in the hobby.
The increased number of fish means that it's pretty likely you'll catch something if you cast a line here. However, note that there are some additional regulations in trout parks. You can only keep two trout per day instead of the usual five, and a Trout and Salmon Stamp is required.
Learn more about the process of obtaining a Trout and Salmon Stamp from the State of Connecticut's official website.
While many think of fishing as a sport for warmer weather, you can also go ice fishing at Stratton Brook State Park.
