The Incredible Flower Road Trip Through Connecticut Is The Ultimate Spring Adventure

One of the best parts about spring in Connecticut is all the amazing blooms on display. The colorful flowers that decorate our fields and gardens are such a magical reminder of the new life that blossoms each spring. We're lucky enough to have no shortage of great places to check out flowers each spring, and if you're looking for a fun spring road trip in Connecticut, it doesn't get much better than this flower road trip through the Nutmeg State. 1. Connecticut College Arboretum: New London

The Connecticut College Arboretum is one of our favorite botanical gardens in Connecticut in any season. This 750-acre oasis is nearly 100 years old, and it's home to some stunning flowering plants and trees that are especially beautiful in the springtime. Everything from azaleas to ferns is present here, and it's a lovely place to get out and enjoy nature.

1a. Caroline Black Gardens at the Connecticut College Arboretum

We're including this one as a side-stop because it's technically one of the gardens within the Connecticut College Arboretum, but make sure you don't miss a visit to the Caroline Black Garden. The five-acre garden is located near the college's main entrance, and it's home to tons of native species that are gorgeous when in bloom.

2. Richard D. Haley Native Plant Wildlife Gardens

This native plant garden is part of the amazing James L. Goodwin State Forest. This is a phenomenal hiking area, with 17 miles of trails to explore. The Richard D. Haley Native Plant Wildlife Garden is a 1.5-acre garden housing a variety of native plant species. There are informational signs to help you identify all the brilliant blooms on display here.

3. Elizabeth Park Conservancy

The beautiful Elizabeth Park Conservancy is home to the third-largest rose garden in America. This place is truly magnificent, and one of the best spots to go in spring in Hartford, CT. You'll find more than 15,000 rose bushes here, with eye-catching colors in every shade of the rainbow.

4. Hubbard Park

Your next stop is the lovely Hubbard Park in Meriden, CT. This great little municipal park is home to one of the largest daffodil blooms in Connecticut, with 600,000 flowers in bloom each spring! With a beautiful lake, gorgeous trails, and adorable foot bridges, this place looks straight out of a fairy tale.

5. Wooster Square Park

One of the most iconic signs of spring is the lovely cherry blossom, and if you're looking for cherry blossoms in Connecticut, Wooster Square Park in New Haven is the place to go. This neighborhood park even hosts a wonderful cherry blossom festival each year.
