Located a mere minutes from downtown Denver, Morrison was founded by builder and businessman George Morrison, who helped bring the Denver, South Park, and Pacific Railroad to Morrison in 1874 and put the area on the map for its high-quality dimension stone.

Though the railroad is no more, several of the original buildings, complete with lime and gypsum exteriors and a distinctive style of construction, can still be seen around town, including the pictured Morrison Schoolhouse.
