12 Christmas Light Displays In Colorado That Are Pure Magic
Like many of you, one of my family’s favorite holiday traditions is loading up the kids in the car and driving around looking for the best Christmas light displays in the area. Instead of making you drive around aimlessly and waste gas, we have compiled this list of the 12 best displays in the state, which include:
1. Electric Safari (4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Rd. Colorado Springs)
Southern Colorado's favorite light display is that of the Electric Safari, which is located at the beautiful Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and features more than 85 light sculptures that span across a massive 50 acres.
2. Zoo Lights (2300 Steele St. Denver)
Cheyenne Mountain isn't the only area zoo to celebrate the season... in fact, the Denver Zoo Lights not only includes 70 acres worth of dazzling colors, but Santa visits, live entertainment, and other fun surprises.
3. RockinChristmas (Castle Rock)
Believe it or not, RockinChristmas isn't sponsored by a city or business; it is put on by the Christmas-loving residents at 1021 Neptunite Place in Castle Rock.
4. A Hudson Christmas (6115 S Santa Fe Dr. Littleton)
Located at the gorgeous Hudson Gardens & Events Center, A Hudson Christmas showcases "thousands of twinkling lights in majestic trees, visits with Santa (through December 23) and memories for the whole family."
5. The Greeley Grizwalds (Greeley)
That's right, folks; the Grizwalds are alive and well (and living at 354 50th Avenue Court in Greeley)! Come by to see their vibrant masterpiece for yourself.
6. "Winter Wonderland" (Grand Junction)
If you thought the Western Slope was beautiful before, wait until you see it lit up with thousands of lights. (This display is located on 26 Rd. near I-70.)
7. Garden of Lights (2145 Centre Ave. Fort Collins)
If you are in or around Fort Collins, be sure to stop by the Gardens on Spring Creek's dreamy Garden of Light, which is considered to be one of Northern Colorado's best holiday traditions. (Can you see why?)
8. Flint Family Light Show (Sterling)
The Front Range doesn't have all the fun, as demonstrated by the Flint Family Light Show at 617 North 5th Avenue in Sterling.
9. Blossoms of Light (1007 York St. Denver)
One of my personal favorite light displays is the Denver Botanic Gardens's Blossoms of Light (which is made even better while sipping on their decadent hot chocolate and munching on brown sugar glazed almonds).
10. 2461 Mapleton Circle (Longmont)
I said it last year and I'll say in again: Thank you, homeowners, for putting up your display year after year... I'm sure the electric bill is a nightmare, but your friends and neighbors sure do appreciate the extra cheer!
11. Hempell Christmas Light Show (Erie)
With all of this holiday cheer (made possible by the Hempell family at 466 Wheat Berry Drive), how can you not have a Merry Christmas?!
12. Yuletide Lights Driving Tour (Estes Park)
This Estes tradition is comprised of numerous homes and businesses, so be sure to drive around to see it all!
