The Forks in Livermore, Colorado, offers delicious American fare with a rustic western charm, making it a must-visit spot.

It's a common misconception that all the best food in the country can be found in big city restaurants. In all actuality, some of the most delicious food and charming eateries are way out of the cities and in some very tiny towns. In the case of The Forks (known both as The Forks Mercantile Saloon and The Forks 287), this iconic restaurant hails from a town with a population of just a little over 2,000 people.

Livermore is an unincorporated community in Colorado with very few people, but it's still one of the best restaurants in the state. Formed in 1875, it has been closed on and off and operated under new management over the years. Still, despite all the changes, The Forks keeps its Western cowboy-style ambience. The Forks is THE spot in the community to get food, and a perfect stop if you're roadtripping to Wyoming or visiting the Red Feather Lakes.

You know The Forks has to be a good idea because it's been around since 1875. We're talking almost 150 years!

The Colorado restaurant still retains its rustic western charm all these decades later.

But of course, what's most important about the space is the food. They have typical American fare, but all done in such delicious ways.

Look at that dollop of guacamole. It's perfect.

Putting spaghetti, meatballs, and garlic bread in a cast iron skillet is a simple yet genius way to enhance the whole experience.

And of course, an establishment like this makes a killer burger (and even better onion rings).

No, your eyes don't deceive you — that's a mountain margarita paired with enchildas and the incredible view you get from The Forks.

The Forks in Livermore, Colorado has it all: good food, good views, and good service. It's a must-visit while traveling in Colorado.
