Although it's "just" a front lawn display, Cox Family Lights is among the largest Christmas light shows in Arizona. More than 35,000 lights dance in synchronicity to the tune of 15 different holiday songs. The coolest part is that 16-year-old Brolin Cox programmed the entire thing! The display is on from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. nightly through December 31. More information here.
Address: 8607 East Via Del Palacio, Scottsdale, AZ 85258
Each year, this Mesa home comes alive with holiday spirit. It's a spectacular sight, with thousands of lights dancing to festive tunes. Hours are 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. nightly through December 31. More information here.
For nearly a decade, Valley residents have flocked to the home of James MacGregor at Christmastime. 40,000 lights run the gamut of holiday themes, from a 20-foot-tall tree to a nativity scene. Stop by between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. through December 31. More information here.
You haven't experienced a true Scottsdale Christmas until you've seen the Birkett Family's annual Winter Wonderland display. We can hardly believe that over 140,000 lights make up this space-themed residential light display (on a street called Milky Way in Chandler, cleverly enough). It's the brainchild of homeowner Frank Kostyun, featuring two dozen stars, a 45-foot-tall tree, and a custom synchronized animation. Hours are 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday, and 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday & Saturday through January 3. More information here.
If you're a Nightmare Before Christmas fan, this Glendale display is definitely your cup of tea. For the past three years, Bob Spacy Jr. has designed handmade props inspired by the film to adorn the lawn of his three-bedroom home. You'll see a 12-foot-tall Oogie Boogie, Jack’s ghostly dog, Zero, and 75,000 eerie lights. There's even a projector showing the movie! Drop by from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday, and 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday & Saturday through January 3. More information here.
Address: 4431 West Escuda Drive, Glendale, AZ 85308
8. Garrison Family Christmas Lights Show (Phoenix)
Have yourself a Garrison Family Christmas at this epic north Phoenix display. You'll see a whopping 25,000 lights synced to music, with brand new songs and special effects this year. Even the car is illuminated! The lights are on from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. nightly through January 1. More information here.
Address: 4420 East Anderson Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85032
Carl Jimenez decks the halls for several major holidays, and Christmas is no exception. In early December, he begins the painstaking work of putting up thousands of lights and decorations on every inch of his house and lawn. What a sight! Hours are 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. nightly through January 1, and the home also features a walkthrough display. More information here.
Address: 18639 North 1st Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85027
Many of the displays are free, but some encourage donations. Check the official website or Facebook page for each house before visiting to learn pricing details and other important information.
