Arizona may not be one of the oldest states in the country, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a rich and varied history. In fact, you can find shops, restaurants, and other businesses that have been around for decades -- including one of our favorite steakhouses in the state, which was built almost an entire century ago. One of the oldest restaurants in Arizona, Mormon Lake Lodge Steakhouse is a must-try!
Mormon Lake Lodge Steakhouse, located in Mormon Lake, is one of the oldest steakhouses in Arizona.
It was built all the way back in 1924. You know you have delicious food when you can last almost an entire century. The restaurant world is fickle, after all!
In fact, the restaurant almost became a thing of the past on July 4, 1974 when it caught on fire.
But Mormon Lake Lodge was so beloved, the town rebuilt it as fast as it could. You can still see the branding symbols of the ranchers who pitched in to help around Mormon Lake Lodge Steakhouse.
So what makes this particular steakhouse so good? Well, first there is the ambiance.
The place cultivates a real Western atmosphere with its decor. And don't worry, it's a casual eatery.
It's also one of just a handful of operating open-pit steakhouses in Arizona.
That makes the meat taste entirely different. The open-pit mesquite grilled beef here is so savory and tasty!
Another reason to love Mormon Lake Lodge Steakhouse? The generous portions.
This is not a restaurant that skimps on the food, and for that, we are thankful.
And while the meat is the star of the show here (naturally), vegetarians, have no fear! There are items on the menu that will satiate your veg friends.
It's the perfect spot to grab dinner while in Mormon Lake!
