The moment you feast your eyes upon Sedona's red rocks, it becomes apparent why it's one of the most popular towns in the state for hiking. People come from all over the world just to immerse themselves in the otherworldly landscapes of Sedona. One of my favorite hikes happens to be the Devil's Bridge Trail. While this is an incredible hike, there's another one that can't be beat. Boynton Canyon Trail in Sedona, Arizona is a stunning hike with a cave, rock formations, and scenic viewpoints and, if you're a hiker, this is one trail you must hike.
Sedona is a magnificent town for hiking. This outdoor lovers' paradise is hard to beat when it comes to beautiful landscapes that you can hike through. And one area of Sedona that offers some incredible trails is Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness.
Throughout the 43,950 acres is an otherworldly terrain filled with canyons, caves, cliffs, overlooks, and, of course, Sedona's famous red rocks.
One incredible trail you must take in order to have some of the best views and visit the most surreal cave in Sedona is the Boynton Canyon Trail. This trail provides a moderately difficult 6.1-mile trek.
Be aware, however, that there is a fee per car to enter Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness. As this is a popular trail, the parking lot can fill up fast so your best bet is to come here early in the morning. Dogs are allowed on-leash.
This out-and-back trail is flat for much of the way and shouldn't take longer than 2.5 hours to complete. However, allow for more time as you'll want to stop and take in the views along the way. This trail is absolutely spectacular and you'll find out almost immediately why it's one of the most popular in Sedona.
Make sure you appreciate the beauty of the canyon and surrounding desert and rocks as you hike. There's no other place quite like Sedona!
Perhaps the pièce de résistance of this Boynton Canyon Trail is the cave. Known as the "Subway Cave" or "Boynton Cave," this rock formation looks like a wonderfully unique natural masterpiece.
If you're one who comes to Sedona to visit the famous vortex locations, there is one right here along the Boynton Canyon Trail. Spend some time at this vortex, meditate, and feel the energy surrounding you!
Remember to bring a camera along on your Boynton Canyon Trail hike -- there are photo ops galore here!
