This Ramshackle Crab Shack Hiding In Arizona Serves The Best Seafood Around
Despite being located nowhere near the coast, our state has shockingly great seafood restaurants. That said, these places are often fine dining establishments with strict dress codes and high prices. However, Angry Crab, which has locations in Tucson and the Phoenix area, has a laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere and manages to deliver premium quality seafood that doesn’t break the bank. See for yourself:
With eight total locations, Angry Crab is the premier spot for no-frills Cajun dining in Arizona. It doesn't look like much judging by the exterior, but that’s not what matters most; this eatery focuses on the food.
Inside, the atmosphere is similarly casual - notably quirky with a laid-back vibe, making it perfect for families. Why make seafood a black tie affair when you can have an even better experience while wearing shorts and a t-shirt?
Here, you can indulge in a mouthwatering spread without breaking the bank. From oysters to gumbo, everything on the menu is delicious and affordable. Consider starting with some lightly-breaded calamari or a hearty bowl of clam chowder, then move on to a traditional seafood boil for the main course.
The boils are all prepared with classic Cajun herbs and spices, but you get to pick the sauce and type of seafood. Options include crawfish, lobster, blue crab, and several others, all of which are priced by the pound.
Sauce choices are Cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic. Each boil also comes with seasonal vegetables, sausage, corn-on-the-cob, and red potatoes. Mmmm, we're salivating after just writing that out!
If you're in the mood for something more carb-heavy, try a po'boy with shrimp, crab, catfish, or beer-battered cod. Add a side of "Angry Edamame" spiced with Creole seasoning for a little kick - it may sound unusual, but the flavors totally work.
Even the drinks are paired with seafood! If you've never had a Bloody Mary with crab legs, it's a life-changing experience.
Oh, and you just might run into the restaurant's very own Mr. Krabs while dining! He doesn't look very angry - in fact, he's the friendliest crustacean you'll ever meet.
