On Main Street, running down the center of Talkeeetna, there lies a historic log building that has long housed a cafe and suites. Acquired by new owners in 2016, the Wildflower Cafe is gaining notice as one of the best restaurants in the state.

The Wildflower Cafe is an excellent restaurant with a few rooms above for visitors to rent. It's a very convenient location in the heart of this tiny town and both the rooms and dishes are superb.

The ambiance is the standard Alaskan rustic chic. Enjoy the deck on sunny days and enjoy the outdoor heaters on not-so-sunny days.

The menu features fresh Alaskan seafood, steaks, salads and pastas. A great spot for fresh vegetables, there are many light and healthy options.

With a focus on fresh, clean, locally sourced ingredients, the menu changes with the seasons. A fixed plate special is offered daily. A garden for fresh greens spreads out next to the restaurant.

The lunch menu has burgers, salads, belly warming halibut chowder and classic fish and chips with fresh Alaskan halibut.

Little details make all the difference from the house made curry to the elegant desserts and sauces made fresh.

They aren't joking around about the beer. You can choose from one of 49 different beers on tap, mostly Alaskan microbrews.

There is also a wide selection of wines for the perfect pairing. The restaurant revs up to a nightlife spot at the end of dinner.
