A Trip To This Indoor Farmers Market in Alaska Will Make Your Weekend Complete
Are you missing your summer farmer’s markets? Do you wish you could see all the fabulous produce, or small business owners selling their amazing handcrafted products? Well lucky for you, there is a farmer’s market that you are able to this winter! This indoor Alaska farmers market isn’t just the largest, it’s the only year round farmer’s market in the state!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:
Established in the spring of 2009, The Center Market was originally a collaboration between A.D. Farm and Rempel Family Farm.
It was originally located in the University Center Mall on Saturdays, and was only open summers. After two years, they moved to the parking lot of the Mall at Sears, before moving indoors into where we now find them! Just head through the front doors and you'll see their gorgeous layout in between the stores.
The Center Market is a farmer's market run by, you guessed it, farmers.
This allows some of the best to be seen and sold! They also encourage small business vendors to join in, and you can find a wide range of delicious products. There's quite a few delicious pre-made items, like fermented salads, sauerkraut and kimchi from Evie's Brinery! The Jonesers offers loose leaf teas, chaga mushrooms, and Alaska nectar.
The delicious Alaska Sprouts is a vendor at this market.
Alaska Sprouts are available twice a week to sell micro greens, sprouts, tofu and soy milk. If you enjoy pho in Anchorage, most likely you have tried their tasty greens before!
The famous Far North Fungi also makes an appearance as a vendor!
You can catch their wares on Saturdays. They sell a variety of gourmet mushrooms grown in Anchorage, Alaska on up cycled materials! They are both delicious and environmentally responsible.
Have you been looking for more of Mosquito Mama's amazing marinade?
You can find her on Wednesdays at the market. Try a taste of her amazing Borealis Berry Balsamic Buzzzzz…. This delicious sauce can be used as a marinade, dressing, dip for bread; even drizzled on ice cream! Filled with ingredients like a variety of vinegars, cranberries, spices, honey, and olive oil, everyone will enjoy it!
Alaska Natural Organics also has a booth at the Center Market!
Alaska Natural Organics grows their vegetables with sustainability in mind. There's no pesticides or chemicals used in the growing of their delicious produce, and their stock is available all year round!
And last but definitely not least, the sweets selection at the Center Market.
Come browse gourmet cupcake selections by Catherine's Cupcakes. Or perhaps you're more intrigued by biscotti? Tonia's Biscotti has a lovely little booth with handmade biscotti from her family's recipes. Maria's Confection Connection also offers something for your sweet tooth, with handmade gourmet brittle. So many delectable desserts, so little time!
The Center Market is the only Alaska farmer's market that is open year round!
