Alaska has some pretty fabulous places to get out and enjoy the water. With millions of lakes and thousands of miles of coastline, most Alaskans have a favorite type of boating activity to get out and experience some of the best Alaska has to offer. One Alaskan favorite has been to canoe Kenai Wildlife Refuge.
The Dena’ina people call the Kenai area "Yaghanen," or "the good land." This giant area is home to alpine tundra, lowland lakes, and even the majestic Kenai River.
Two popular canoe routes through the refuge are the Swan Lake and Swanson Lake trails. They are located in the northern lowlands of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.
