What are some must-visit small towns in Alabama?

Alabama is not exactly known for its small towns, but it should be! There are a plethora of really cute, quaint little towns that are well worth a day or two of exploration. For example, the town of Fair Hope, Alabama, is a gorgeous little town on Mobile Bay with countless art galleries, boutiques, and attractions you won’t find anywhere else. We also really love Fort Payne, which is surrounded by the incredibly photogenic parks and preserves. History buffs will also appreciate Marion, which is filled to the brim with historic attractions.

What can I do for a day trip in Alabama?

You might want to ask what you can’t do! Alabama has so many possibilities that it can be tough to choose what you want to do. Make a day out of visiting several of Alabama’s beautiful waterfalls, or maybe spend the day hopping from flea market to flea market on the hunt for great finds. You could list all the ice cream shops you want to try and make a day of it, or you could simple spend an entire day (or longer) at any one of Alabama’s 21 state parks. For more ideas, check out this list! You’ll find plenty of inspiration.

What are the best hidden gems in Alabama?

Alabama has as many hidden gems as it does quaint little towns! If you’re into urban exploration, check out the “town” of Spectre, which was once built to be the set of a Tim Burton film and is now left to decay on its own. It’s an interesting spot for photographers, explorers, and the curious to come poke around and find things. You could also visit the incredible natural bridge nearby the William Bankhead National Forest. It’s 60 feet high, and 180 feet long; it’ll take your breath away!
