You might not see Rhode Island as much of a hiking mecca. But the truth is, the Ocean State has some seriously stunning trails, some of which will make you feel like you’ve left New England entirely. And if you’d prefer your hikes to have a little history, head to the Wolf Hill Forest Preserve, where the World War II Memorial Loop awaits.

The Wolf Hill Forest Preserve runs right through the middle of the town of Smithfield.

This long, rocky ridge sits west of I-295 and east of the southern part of Woonasquatucket Reservoir.
The World War II Memorial Loop is about 4.4 miles in length, and it's beautiful in any season.

All the trails in this park are soft and rolling, considered easy or moderate hikes.
