Spotted Bear Vineyards and Lavender Farm got its start back in 1983, when pioneer wine grape growers Dr. Dudley Page and his wife Annie decided that this would be a good area to grow wine grapes.

Nearby Flathead Lake (which incidentally is the clearest lake in the State of Montana), which is 28 miles long and 15 miles wide, creates its own weather patterns that happen to be great for growing lavender flowers here.
Dudley and Annie grew Pinot Noir grapes here for 20 years before selling the vineyard to its current owners.

The proprietors no longer grow Pinot Noir grapes here due to a rather harsh frost in 2013, but you'll find several other varieties here.
The first lavender fields were planted in 2014, and they've added even more beauty to this already stunning property.

In the summertime, they have u-pick lavender fields and often lavender distillation workshops in July. Its one of the most fun ways to spend the summer months in Montana.

We couldn't NOT name a good place to go hiking in Montana! The Big Sky State is absolutely spectacular and the terrain lends itself very well to many amazing hiking spots and trails. One of the most well-known is called Ousel Falls. Located in Big Sky, MT it is a very picturesque hiking trail and relatively easy so people of all different physical abilities can enjoy it. Getting to the waterfall is the best part of the entire journey!

The Custer Gallatin National Forest is located in the south-central part of the state about an hour and a half from Billings and 2 hours and 45 minutes from Bozeman. It is absolutely massive, encompassing approximately 1.8 million acres! As you can imagine, given its size, you can find a wealth of things to do like hiking, camping, horseback riding, mountain biking, swimming, and so much more. 

Where can I find some historic landmarks in Montana?

Montana is a very large state and you can find historic landmarks in numerous places. Butte, for example, has several historic landmarks, each offering an interesting look at the state’s history. One of them is the Mountain Con Mine which shares the story of the town and state’s influence in the mining industry.
