Hikes are best when there is a point of interest at the end of the trail, one that rewards you after you’ve made the energy-draining trek. When hiking up to a mountain peak, for instance, the panoramic landscape view of the country beneath could be seen as your compensation from the journey up. But, that’s not to say that the destination ought to be our only reason for making such a trip. As Ralph Waldo Emerson so aptly wrote, “It’s the not the Destination, It’s the journey”. The hike (the journey) is valuable in itself. However, a destination is still a goal, even if one takes Emerson’s words to heart. So, without taking anything away from the trek (journey), the destination of this moderate out-and-back trail will make for one outstanding hike.
