5 Beaches In Washington That’ll Make You Feel Like You’re At The Ocean
Discover beautiful inland beaches in Washington State that are perfect for a day trip.
We're so lucky to live in a coastal state. Our ocean beaches may not be warm, but they're absolutely beautiful. However, for most Washingtonians, they aren't exactly easily accessible. Here are a few beaches that are a bit more inland, but just as fun as a day at the ocean -- and you might even be able to make it home in time for dinner.
1. Madison Park Beach, Seattle
Madison Park Beach sits on the shores of Lake Washington in Seattle's quiet Madison Park neighborhood, not far from the Washington Park Arboretum. In the summer, lifeguards oversee a roped-off swim zone, while sunbathers enjoy the shores.
2. Lake Chelan State Park
This pristine public recreation area spans 139 acres on the southwest shore of Lake Chelan. This is a camping park, but it's also a place to enjoy the long, sandy stretch of beach.
3. Cama Beach State Park
Located on Camano Island, Cama Beach is all about peace and quiet. The shoreline is rugged and rocky, but the scenery is beautiful. Rent one of the rustic cedar cabins and make a weekend of it.
4. Golden Gardens Park, Seattle
When you're walking across the sand at Golden Gardens Park, you'll find it hard to believe you're still in Seattle, This local treasure is located in the Ballard neighborhood, and it's absolutely breathtaking. The park is situated on Puget Sound, overlooking the Olympic Mountains.
5. Fort Worden, Port Townsend
Fort Worden was once a United States Army Coast Artillery Corps base, and it's now a National Historic Landmark. When you go, make sure you stroll all the way down to the beach. The park faces the Puget Sound and has two miles of pristine saltwater shoreline.
