WA Posted in Washington July 02, 2016 by Jessica Wick These 12 Scenic Overlooks In Washington Will Leave You Breathless Afraid of heights? Hopefully not, because when it comes to Washington State scenery, the view is usually better from the top. These 12 scenic overlooks prove that the climb is always worth it. 1. Diablo Lake, as seen from Thunder Point. Hunda / Flickr The trek to Diablo Lake is not easy, and sometimes the trails are closed. But if you're ever able to make it, you'll never forget it. 2. Dry Falls in Central Washington. Emily Neef / Flickr Once the site of what was possibly the greatest known waterfall to ever exist, the Dry Falls area is now, well, dry. But the scenic overlook is still spectacular. 3. The view from the top of the Smith Tower in Seattle. transient musket / Flickr Nothing tops our natural wonders, but some of our manmade skylines are also incredible. 4. The scenic overlook area near Vantage. Craig Bennett / Flickr This scenery makes the drive from Eastern Washington to Western Washington (or vice versa) worth it. 5. The Grand Coulee Dam, as seen from a nearby viewpoint. PROsrv007 / Flickr Power production facilities here are among the world's largest, and the total generating capacity is rated at 6,809 megawatts. Wow. 6. Mount Baker Scenic Byway. Washington State Dept of Transportation / Flickr Would you rather be the driver or the passenger on this road? 7. Spokane Falls, as seen from the bridge. Tracy Hunter / Flickr Spokane Falls is one of Eastern Washington's gems. 8. If you’ve ever wondered what the view from the top of Mount Saint Helens is, now you know. Brendan Adkins / Flickr It’s pretty spectacular. 9. The always breathtaking view of Palouse Falls from Palouse Falls State Park. seattleforge / Flickr 10. A beautiful view of downtown Seattle from Kerry Park on Queen Anne. Tiffany Von Arnim / Flickr 11. The stunning Snoqualmie Falls, as seen from the viewing area. Wildcat Dunny / Flickr Snoqualmie Falls is a must-see for anyone living in our state. 12. And the incredible view of Hurricane Ridge at Olympic National Park. PTMurphus / Flickr Western Washington at its finest. Our scenic overlooks are incredible, and so are the views from our country roads. If you’ve got time to go exploring this weekend, check these out.
