What's the tallest waterfall in Maine?

Boasting a spectacular 90-foot drop, Moxie Falls is Maine's highest and most easily accessible waterfall. It's also one of the most beautiful places in all of New England. The trek to the falls is nearly as breathtaking as the cascades themselves, traversing through verdant forests that are straight out of a fairy tale. As the greenery thins and falls come into view, you're bound to have your breath taken away by this enthralling scene in the Pine Tree State!

What are some waterfall hikes in Maine?

Here at OnlyInMaine, we're a bunch of helpless waterfall chasers, and luckily, the Pine Tree State always delivers. Some of our favorite waterfall hikes in Maine include the hike to Dunn Falls (listed above!), Smalls Falls on the Sandy River, the Step Falls Trail in Newry, the Cascade Falls Trail in Saco, and Houston Brook Fall in Pleasant Ridge. We share more of our favorite waterfall hikes in Maine in this feature, too!

What are some easy-access waterfalls in Maine?

Maine is chock full of beautiful waterfalls, and luckily, you don't have to be an advanced hiker to see them for yourself. In fact, here are four of our favorite waterfall trails in Maine that actually require little-to-no hiking at all! If you love hiking trails with waterfalls in Maine but also love quickly-accessible nature, you’ll absolutely adore these hikes, which venture into beautiful places such as Coos Canyon, the Androscoggin River, and Rumford. Our favorite, though, is one you'll find after a quick walk on the paved Auburn Riverwalk. This short-and-sweet trail leads to the lovely Snow Falls, a beautiful cascade powered by the Androscoggin River that's truly one of our favorite river walks in Maine.
