What are some scenic places to visit in Maine?

If you closed your eyes and pointed to a place -- any place -- on the map of Maine, chances are, it's somewhere scenic. While Acadia National Park is revered as one of the most beautiful places in the country, it's by no means the only superlative scenic place in Maine. The North Woods area of Maine is a remote area where few dare to venture, which makes it perfect if you want to get away from the crowds. The region is home to Lake Nahmakanta, which is considered one of the most beautiful lakes anywhere. The water is so clear that it reflects the surrounding mountains and sky almost like a mirror. It is a haven for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The shoreline is about 10-miles long, and you can catch your fill of salmon and several species of trout. Nahmakanta is a place you must visit if you are in Maine's North Woods region, and we think it's a place everyone needs to put on their Maine bucket list!

Other scenic places to explore in Maine include House Island, the Kennebec River, Mount Katahdin, and Higgins Beach. Learn about more of our favorite places in Maine in this article: A Nature Lovers Definitive Guide To Maine’s Natural Beauty – Parks, Beaches, Hikes, And More!
