11 Small-Town Ice Cream Shops In Wisconsin That Are Perfect For A Summer Day
The summer is winding down, but there’s still time to go out and get some delicious Wisconsin ice cream. There are plenty of famous and favorite shops all over the state that people love, but today we’re focusing on small town shops. These are the places you remember from your childhood, visit on vacation and make your summer complete. Here’s a list, in no particular order, of our 11 favorites:
1. Mullen's Dairy Bar - Watertown
It's been a bumpy road, but Mullen's is back open in Watertown. This iconic shop has been there since 1932 and has served tons of happy customers. Located at 212 W Main St., Watertown, WI 53094.
2. Frogg's Ice Cream - Sherwood
Located near High Cliff State Park, this is a great treat after working up an appetite. Open from the first weekend in April through Labor Day weekend. Located at 370 Military Rd., Sherwood, WI 54169.
3. Kelley Country Creamery - Eden
Prepare yourself of a long list of unusual and interesting flavors made right here on this dairy farmstead. It doesn't get fresher than this family-owned creamery. Open May 1 through October 1. Located at W5215 Co Rd B, Fond du Lac, WI 54937.
4. The Windmill - Tomahawk
The perfect taste of the Northwoods and a sign of summer for many who have cabins up here. Visit by car, foot or boat and enjoy a wide array of treats, including non-dairy options. 5. Knoke's - Hudson
Go in for a cold and melty treat, but bring a cooler and plan to take home all the chocolates your heart has ever dreamed of. Located at 220 Locust St., Hudson, WI 54016.
6. Adrian's Frozen Custard - Burlington
For more than four decades, this place has been a staple of life in Burlington. Grab a cone and stroll along the lake in Echo Park next door. Located at 572 Bridge St., Burlington, WI 53105.
7. Pine River Dairy - Manitowoc
Home of the 25 cent ice cream - but you should totally splurge and get the 50 cent double scoop! Bring cash and plan to stock up on fresh cheese while you're there! Located at 10115 English Lake Rd., Manitowoc, WI 54220.
8. Cathy's Ice Cream and Candy Shoppe - St. Germain
This cute little shop is another summer-only place that folks dream about all winter. They even have a dock so you can boat right up for your ice cream fix. Located at 108 State Highway 70 E, Saint Germain, WI 54558.
9. LeDucs Frozen Custard - Wales
I've said it here before, but it bears repeating. These folks make Frozen. Custard. Pies. Located at 240 W Summit Ave. (Hwy 18 & 83), Wales, Wisconsin.
10. Grab a Cone - Montfort
They have regular cones and soft serve and come up with flavors like loaded French Toast, meaning this is a place you're going to want to find.

11. Merrimac Ferry Landing Concessions - Merrimac
Regularly voted the best ice cream in the area and featuring lines like these (that move very fast), this place is iconic. Open May through October, so there's still plenty of time to get your fix! Located at 217 Wisconsin St., Merrimac, WI 53561.
