We here in the great state of Wisconsin don't mind a little trip out into the country. We love heading up to the Northwoods or venturing outside the city limits to find some hidden gems. These 10 restaurants are in some spots that are a bit more out of the way. While some are in slightly larger towns, none are bigger than about 7,500 people and most are in far smaller places than that. 1. Fitz's on the Lake - Lodi

Lodi sits on Lake Wisconsin a bit north of Madison. Fitz's has an incredible outdoor space, live music and a wonderful menu. 2. Clearwater Harbor - Waupaca

Located on the Chain O' Lakes southwest of Stevens Point, Clearwater is a stunning spot to dine outdoors. Open seasonally from May Through September, it's a beautiful spot for a meal. 3. Maiden Lake Supper Club - Mountain

Way up in the Cathedral Pines State Natural Area, this restaurant tucked into protected land offers all the great things you love about a supper club plus a peaceful, remote location. 4. The Trout House at Rushing Waters - Palmyra

Head about 45 miles southwest of Milwaukee, between Lake Geneva and Watertown, and you'll find Rushing Waters trout farm. It's a stunning drive through part of the Kettle Moraine State Forest and you'll arrive at this somewhat remote little surprise. Northwest of LaCrosse and Trempeauleau, this small town is full of charm and that extends to the service at Garden of Eatin'. Don't let the name fool you; there are plenty of things carnivores love here, too. It's one of the friendliest, coziest, most delicious spots the state has to offer. 6. Z's Fork Horners - Gleason

Midway between Wausau and Rhinelander, this little spot is one of the only options in town, but that doesn't mean they skimp on taste or service. A little further down the Chain O' Lakes you'll find The Wheelhouse. The biggest town on our list, Rhinelander is sort of a gateway to the Northwoods, offering all the things you need to stock up on before going even more country. Maybe it's not country to some of you, but it made the list because White Stag Inn is good enough for us to possibly bend the rules a bit. It's a simple menu that's been perfected over the years and you'll be planning to run your errands to coincide with a chance to dine here.
