Wisconsin’s 72 counties maintain scores of county parks, and some are simply incredible. In Central Wisconsin, the North Wood County Park is home to a swinging bridge, scenic lakes, and more. It’s a spot that attracts campers, hikers, and nature lovers ,and it’s a wonderful little escape if you need like exploring the beauty Central Wisconsin. Here’s a look at North Wood County Park, a scenic Wisconsin destination.
The park is located near the small community of Arpin. It’s a little oasis of parkland surrounded by rural farms and homes.
The park covers 172 acres on the banks of the Yellow River. There are a couple of small dams on the river, which form a pair of small lakes – Lake Kaunewinne (5 acres) and Lake Manakiki (11 acres).
The park is anchored by a 225-foot suspension bridge that crosses the Yellow River. It offers some beautiful views of the river - and it will add a little bounce to your step!
While the bridge is a must-visit attraction here, there’s plenty more to do in the park – it has a disc golf course, a beach area with a bathhouse, scenic walking trails, a picnic area, volleyball courts, and more.
It’s also a nice place for simply taking in the beauty of nature. You’ll see a lot of wildlife here – the park is a popular stop-off place for migratory birds.
If you feel like extending your stay, the park has a camping area with 99 sites. It’s a well equipped campground, with electrical hookups, shower and laundry facilities, a dump station, and fresh water.
