Wabeno, pop. 1,100, is a town located in Forest County. It was officially established in 1897 during the state’s logging boom. It was located near three logging companies – the Menominee Bay Shore Lumber Company, A.E. Rusch Company, and the Jones Lumber Company.

A quiet park area is home to a historical museum that’s filled with memorabilia, a historic logging train, and a library that’s located in a real log cabin. There’s also a nice bandshell where outdoor concerts and events are held.

There are several pleasant hiking trails in the area, and the beautiful 35-mile Nicolet State Trail passes right through town. It connects with the communities of Carter, Blackwell, Laona, Cavour, and Newald. It’s an awesome trail for scenic and relaxing ATV/UTV rides.
