There are a lot of reasons to visit one of Wisconsin’s beaches – they beckon visitors with soft sand, cool waters, and plenty of sunshine. One Wisconsin beach offers all of this and a little more. In far northern Wisconsin, Meyers Beach is the gateway to some incredible Lake Superior sea caves. It’s a beautiful Wisconsin adventure and a good reason to drive north. Here’s what’s waiting for you at Meyer’s Beach.
Meyers Beach is a beautiful beach located just east of the town of Cornucopia in northern Bayfield County.
Arrive early to beat the crowds, as it’s a popular destination for visitors - But it’s nothing like the packed beaches you’ll find in the southern part of the state.

Steps take you down to the beach. The sand is soft and white, and the water is crystal-clear, although it can be chilly due to the cold temperatures of Lake Superior. If you’re brave, it can be very refreshing!
But don’t linger too long at Meyers Beach: It’s only the gateway to a remarkable hike along the shore. The Lakeshore Trail, which runs along the beach, offers scenic views of Lake Superior and the surrounding forested landscape.
The trail takes adventurers to beautiful views of sea caves. While the caves are also a popular paddling destination, if you’re not a sea kayaker, this is a great alternative!
The caves are gorgeous anytime, but they are particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset, when the light reflects off the water and illuminates the rock formations.
This is one of my favorite areas in the state – beaches and trails like this are always worth going the extra mile for. Learn more about Meyers Beach on the National Park Service website. Interested in more outdoor fun? Check out these outdoor activities in Wisconsin.
